They talk about the national organization, what inspired the local group, how it's organized and the issues they tackle, for example: Hazardous Waste in Flagler County (Palm Coast and Bunnell), Library Changes, Good Trouble July 17 nationally and how this particular group has added additional Good Trouble all week long so people can choose to participate when they are available in the way they are most comfortable. The 5 Calls App what it does and how it works to keep you in touch even if you can't leave your home, also working with other groups such as Putnam County and St. Augustine, the great effort to set up a meeting with Randy Fine's staff and eventually Randy Fine himself. Mark talks with Special Guest former Sheriff Jim Manfre. His interesting background brought him to Palm Coast in 1999 the year Palm Coast was incorporated. Two years later he was Sheriff. They discuss egregious double taxation on Palm Coast residents regarding law enforcement and the explosion of the PC budget that is continually requested by the Sheriff's department. He discusses the historical mismanagement of properties owned/sold, the old and new buildings, the growth in PC population, crime, and the need for efficiencies in the Sheriffs department. How can we possibly feel an addition to the staff from the Sheriff's department will help Palm Coast with efficiencies when it is the LEAST efficient! Mark interviews Donna Harkins, President of the Palm Coast Democratic Club. They discuss problems arising from cuts to social services and people with disabilities being hurt, nonpartisan rallies such as getting rid of the Belvidere gas terminal in Palm Coast and how many causes are about all the citizens regardless of party affiliation. They also talk about the benefits of belonging to a club, the social aspect of being around people who think like you do, finding your tribe and her life in service. Coming up is the last Wednesday Mix and Mingle, the monthly meeting with guest speaker Amanda Redwine a therapist speaking about the medical and social aspect of transgender issues and support, Pride Fest is June 7 PCDC will have a table as well as at Flagler First Friday (volunteers welcome!)
